'Bird sues Lowrance 1/27/2010
Shortly after Johnson Outdoors was awarded a patent for its Humminbird Side Imaging technology, Johnson filed suit in federal court against Navico, with claims that Lowrance's new StructureScan technology infringes on the patent.

In a press release, Kelly Grindle, Johnson Outdoors group VP marine electronics and watercraft, stated: "Our intellectual property policy is very simple: We will respect the property of others and fiercely protect that of our own. We were diligent throughout the Side Imaging sonar technology patent application process to ensure we achieved both because real innovation brings real value which our customers and consumers expect and demand. By taking steps to protect our ideas and inventions, we help ensure our ability to continue to bring forward meaningful advances and innovative products that excite consumers and build our customers' business."

i wonder how this will work out

Sounds to me like the marketplace is responding to the lack of promise with the Humminbird technology, and now Lowrance is kicking their ass. If at first you don't succeed, sue your competition.

Hell, if I'd jumped on all the dames I'm supposed to have jumped on, I'd have had no time to go fishing.

You gotta be kidding! Did they really let her go? She was great! I can't imagine why they would do such a stupid thing. Why? :x :x
When roll is called in Congress, most members don't know whether to answer "present" or "not guilty."

Lowrance sounds foolish based on what her daughter wrote, but still doesn't explain the lawsuit by Humminbird. I'm just wondering what that's about.

Good question. If you look at the image quality from HB to Lowrance you would think that HB would shut up and try to make a better product. Either Carson or Sturdivant said that HB has had the DS technology all along and had just not offered it. I think that they have one coming out this spring, now they can sell them to all the folks who bought one of there side scans!!! Sounds like HB owners should be suing HB to me ;)
